After several years in otherworldly pop duo Collarbones and as the queerest member of club music trio BV, Sydney singer and producer Marcus Whale has begun the lonely journey of stepping out as a solo artist. His deeply-held interest in political forms of performance culminated in Inland Sea, his 2016 debut solo album on Good Manners/Caroline, a sprawling rumination on Australian colonisation co-produced by HTRK's Nigel Yang. Willing witnesses to Marcus's live appearances will see him flanked by two drummers, mixing a naive and dramatic vocal performance with the unrelenting tension of the songs' instrumentals, a combination once described as "deeply stressful" by a sound tech. Adventurous sorts can find themselves immersed in this heady brew at RBMA Weekender 2016.
